The path of Economic Humanism involves setting aside traditional conventions about how the economy works and promoting a beneficial relationship between Man and Nature. It is about moving from the economy of quantity to the economy of quality, exalting the values of sustainability and equity. As a school of thought that prioritizes the well-being of the Earth system as a whole, Economic Humanism challenges prejudices and beliefs that hide behind the easy mantra of growth. The theoretical approach proposed by Economic Humanism involves a disinterested search for knowledge by human beings who possess understanding and awareness. Independent humanist thought, therefore, is also a call to action against the feared danger of Europe’s decline. With the technological absolutism of American techno-feudalists and the mass market of consumer goods that rely on artificial intelligence, the correct understanding and awareness of reality is the prerogative of human beings. The answer to despotic technocrats must be arranged by a Europe that gives voice to independent, versatile humanist thinkers who do not uncritically accept the suggestions of AI and reflect on the similarities of human beings among themselves and with all other animals and plant species. They are the thinkers of Economic Humanism who can reduce the numerous deep fractures in the natural world, society, and the economy that digital authoritarianism is instead aggravating.
